Sourcing

Sustainable, Ethical, and Transparent

Charcoal Briquettes:

Currently we source our wood waste from the Mafinga Town Council Designated Dumpsite. The wood waste is carbonized in Kilns an then the carbon is transferred into the processing site where it is processed into charcoal briquettes. Moving forward, we are in the process of supporting group certification of smallholders so there waste can be categorized as responsible sourcing and we can utilize this to grow the business and have larger source then just the current designated dumpsites.

Wood Wool Firelighters:

We source the wood for our Firelighters from responsible sourcing Forests in the area. We use Pine for this an ensure full traceability through our responsible sourcing and that of our suppliers. The wax used in our certification is RSPO certified ensuring it’s bother natural and sustainably sourced.

  3. Local Empowerment: By prioritizing local sources, we contribute to the economic growth of the communities we are a part of. Our operations support job creation, skill development, and community-building.
  4. Transparency: We believe in maintaining openness about where and how we source. This commitment to transparency builds trust with our customers and stakeholders.

Our Key Sourcing Initiatives

Certification and Reforestation Program: We are establishing the certification of over 1000 small holders. One of the requirements will be for very tree utilized in our processes the smallholder forest must replant the trees before we can utilize there waste. This initiative not only ensures a sustainable source for our products but also aids in insuring the sustainability of the forest and supply of raw materials.

Partnering with Local Growers: Our collaboration with local tree growers ensures a steady supply of raw materials for the future, while they benefit from fair prices and a consistent demand for their produce. Currently we procure the wood waste from these farmers after it has gone through industry processes has no further benefit and is sent to landfills if it is within the town council reach or otherwise burnt.

Zero-Waste Goal: We are constantly innovating our processes to reduce waste. Currently, over 95% of our sourced materials are fully utilized in production, and we are tirelessly working towards achieving a 100% utilization rate. Waste generated is usually from damaged stock or wind losses.
