Although a relatively new product for Tanzania, wood wool firelighters are now one of the most popular products used in the lighting of domestic fireplaces, Wood Stoves, BBQ’s and campfires across the Western World. Green Resources a company located near Mafinga has large scale plantations of certified trees which can be used in the production of this high end product. The product requires medium sized soft wood poles for converting into wood wool and then firelighters of which there is an abundance in the area.

A product known as wood wool firelighter is in high demand Europe subject to certification of the wood source. The product is produce from making wool from shaving wood and then roping it into long twisted ropes. These are then dipped in wax and cut to size and packaged in high end packaging.
